Indiana pre-lien notice

Indiana does not require a notice at the start of most jobs. The exception is an owner-occupied one- or two-family home, or one being built for the owner to live in. There, a subcontractor or supplier who furnished on credit to someone other than the owner must give the owner written notice within 30 days (repairs and alterations) or 60 days (new construction, with a copy filed with the county recorder), or there is no lien (Ind. Code § 32-28-3-1). On other projects no notice is required.
