Registered agent lookup, state by state
When the party you need to serve is a corporation or LLC, the reliable path is to serve its registered agent — the person or company it has designated, by law, to receive legal papers. Every state publishes registered agents in its business-entity records. Find the company below in the state where it’s registered, open its record, and use the registered agent’s name and address for service.
Serve by a method you can prove. Use a delivery method with tracking and delivery confirmation — Certified Mail (return receipt requested), FedEx or UPS with signature required, or personal service by a professional process server (napps.org). Keep the tracking number, the receipt, and the delivery confirmation — that’s your proof of service. Some statutes require a specific method, so check the rules for your state and document type.
Links go to each state’s official lookup and are current as of July 2026; states occasionally move these pages — if a link misses, search for the state office named above. This page is general information, not legal advice.
