Montana notice of right to claim a lien
In Montana, a claimant who did not contract directly with the owner (other than a wage earner) must give the owner this notice within 20 days after first furnishing (45 days on some lender-financed jobs), and file a copy with the county clerk and recorder within 5 business days. A late notice limits your lien to what you furnished in the 20 (or 45) days before you gave it. If you never give the notice, or never file the copy, you cannot claim a lien at all. The filed copy lapses after one year unless you file a continuation. Commercial projects and dwellings of five or more units are exempt (Mont. Code Ann. § 71-3-531).
Flat fee of $49. Your instructions say who receives it, how, and by when.
