New Mexico notice of right to claim a lien

In New Mexico, a claimant who did not contract with the owner or the original contractor, and whose lien will be more than $5,000, must give this notice within 60 days after first furnishing, unless the property is residential with four or fewer units. If the notice is required and you never give it, your lien cannot be enforced. If you give it late, your lien covers only work and materials furnished from 30 days before the date you give it (NMSA 1978, § 48-2-2.1).
