Virginia notice to mechanics’ lien agent
Virginia has no general preliminary notice. The only pre-lien notice is on a one- or two-family home whose building permit names a mechanics’ lien agent. There, send the agent written notice by registered or certified mail, or deliver it, within 30 days of first furnishing (or of permit issuance, if work started first). A late notice limits the lien to work done after it (Va. Code § 43-4.01). If the permit names no agent, or the job is not a one- or two-family home, no notice is required.
Flat fee of $49. Your instructions say who receives it, how, and by when.
