Nevada Claims
Your Project
Start with where the work is — the county decides where this gets filed, what your deadline is, and which attorneys are nearest the property.
Private property is assumed and already selected — change it if that is wrong. Public means a city, county, state or federal job, or work on a school, courthouse or highway. No mechanics lien attaches to public property in any state; on a public job the remedy is the payment bond.
Nevada: the license question
NRS 108.222(2): a contractor or professional required to be licensed “will only have a lien … if the contractor or professional is licensed to perform the work.” That is a condition on the lien existing, not a defense the owner has to raise. If a license was required and you did not hold one, there is no lien to record.
Two other Nevada limits worth knowing now. There is a $500 floor — NRS 108.2214 defines a lien claimant as someone providing work, material or equipment “with a value of $500 or more”. And Nevada is a window, not a deadline: NRS 108.244 bars a foreclosure complaint until 30 days after the lien is recorded, while NRS 108.233 releases the property six months after recording unless suit has been commenced. Too early fails as surely as too late.
A bond can change everything downstream — in some states it switches the notice scheme off entirely (Wisconsin says so outright), and in others it gives you a second remedy alongside the lien. Answer “not sure” if you have not seen one; it is a fair answer and a common one.

Nevada documents are generated from statute-based templates. This is a self-help document-preparation service — review everything before signing, and consider having a Nevada construction attorney look it over. The statute itself is at NRS ch. 108 — Mechanics’ and Materialmen’s Liens, published by the Nevada Legislature.
